Most people have massive, well-designed archives for all their layouts. Most people have well-designed layouts. Most people also have enough layouts to warrant those huge archives. I don't switch layouts that often on my collective, and I rarely ever on my other pages unless they really suck or their content outgrows their layout. This page will just be for my main collective, and more for my amusement than anything else. Dig through at your own risk. Also know that I think, and I was taught, function over form in good design. I respect those that can create a beautiful piece of digital art for their websites, but I prefer simple layouts that look good and not amateaurish. This was also how I was taught to do good design. You'll notice that all my layouts are very simple... and while some (hell, most) people will most likely disagree with this, I LIKE designing like this because I think it looks good and are easier to navigate. I think you should visit a site for content and not the design, and in content I will always take pride, where I may not always in design.

You know, the funny thing about this layout is that it's GREAT. If I had omitted the midi section, the links would've formed one line and that would've been perfect. The links had mouse rollovers, they all worked, and the only major thing wrong was that the screencap of Rumika was a little washed-out. I spent hours editing the background out of it. This layout is absolutely spectacular. I can't believe it. I like it better than the one I have up NOW. You don't understand. And it was my FIRST ONE. It only went downhill from here, though. The subpages kinda sucked, though. They were unedited images on the left half of the screen with text overlays, and the right half was for text. They were also pink. Yea. But THIS page... it was fabulous. Especially for a first attempt. Wow. I'm gonna go cry now. I haven't looked at this layout for 3 years, and when I dug it out for this... that is why I'm shocked while I write this. I also edited the screencap to take out all the IE stuff, but this still is a screencap. The title was a pun. The reason I chose Jessibelle for the first layout is that I had chosen her Japanese name Rumika as my alias a couple months before, thus Rumika on a collective would be Rumika's collective. Hahaha, I'm sooooo clever.
At this point, I was still trying to incorperate the Rocky Horror Picture Show into the layouts, so I chose this kinda risque image of Ran-chan and the floor show title thing. I scanned it and edited it, but I didn't do such a good job, as you can tell by the white border around the image. Above the type, from the line up, was one big image that constituted one frame, then the narrow navigation strip was another frame, then there was about a 30 pixel tall frame for type. I think that it was navigable, but I don't think it stayed up for very long because the image took too long to load and even I realized that the tiny long frame didn't work. This also wasn't all that dang attractive, which I did realize back then, too. Overall, I hate this one and it should've been the first layout rather than the beautiful thing that came before it :p
Still trying to desperately cling to the Rocky Horror connection. I could've sworn this was a quote from Sailor Pluto, but I could never find it again in my manga. I still think it's a cool connection, but it's kinda a crappy layout. A VERY crappy layout. Pluto should've been bigger, the links should've been centered, and I should've used frames rather than the subpages I had for this one. However, as the image says (this wasn't a screencap), this layout never made it up like this because I never could hammer out the coding for whatever reason. This image I'm showing you was composed in Paint Shop Pro with all the images that were supposed to go into this layout. It was kinda just that image with some garbled text and broken links next to it for a couple months while I tried to fix it and come up with a new, better layout. But I couldn't find any images that tied into Rocky Horror, so I mainly was just trying to fix this. Notice I still have the viewing link, even though once you GET to the page it's kinda pointless :p Also notice I hadn't yet discovered the wonders of antialiasing.
Like I said, I couldn't find any other images that tied into Rocky Horror, so I used this one again. Plus, it made for a good blog layout, which is what I had discovered at this point :p Still not antialiasing, though. I still am so proud of this layout, because it looked so damn good. The screenshot is of after I had moved the blog to its own site, but usually there was a long list of entries, and the sidebar had my sites and links and buttons and other miscellaneous items of interest. I really, REALLY liked this layout. For some reason, I think it was only up for a couple months though. Probably because I moved the blog and it really was pointless without it. But boy did I ever love this layout. I was so proud of it... that image was transparent too, the first time I had ever done such a thing ^_^ The links also rolled over and had alt tags. This layout was ahead of its time too, just like the first -_-; Things like this make me feel like I suck now.
Original title, no? Actually, this is still pretty good. It's simple, and you can see I recognized my problem of un-antialiased text with the purposely jagged font. The grey and white is very nice, along with the grey Gatomon image. I also liked the Midvalley and Whores Trigunner at the bottom, which appeared at the end of this layout's lifespan and left with it :p It amused me greatly. This wasn't a frames layout, but the subpages all looked like this, so the layout had to reload every time you went somewhere, which wasn't a really big deal since the images weren't that large. Ah, how I loved Digimon! I think I did this in a few hours after finishing a bigass Digimon marathon, and Gatomon was my favorite character... probably still is. The marathon was, obviously, at the end of the first season, when Gatomon was introduced, defected, then turned into Angewomon. Ah, what a good show that was. A shame I no longer follow it.
The funny thing about this layout is that I had absolutely no idea who Momo Adachi was before I made it, I just like Miwa Ueda's artwork and I thought Momo was pretty, so I used her in a simple layout. I didn't read the series until about a year after, and now I'm addicted and wish I hadn't used Momo already. This is the first time I had kind of an ambiguous navigating system (something other than text, in other words), the hearts. But notice, all you form-over-function people, that they are clearly marked. Yea... like anyone would take design advice from me :p Also notice at this point that I was still using a crooked text because I still didn't know about antialiasing. This is a really nice layout and it was up awhile, but I loved it. I finally took it down mainly because I thought it was too much like the Gatomon one before it, a tripoint navigating system with a large image, and the whole layout is square. This one had color, though. I LIKE this format so much though! I'm a big fan of neat, simple designs without a lot of bells and whistles that still look sharp and not amateaurish. I still do, even after being taught design. I was taught that simple is the best way to go, because they're easy to understand. Anyway, I still really like this layout. I'd probably change the title font because it IS a little too crooked, but it's probably the lack of antialiasing that does that. The subpages were the same as the other one too, where it was this design reloaded on all pages.
Wow, I like this one too. A lot of people probably don't because it's so white, but I think it works here with the simple image. I think this is GREAT. That's three in a row I've liked. I wanted to get away from the squarish, image here text here three links layout design, but I don't think I was successful in that in theory. It looks much different though, which is a success in my mind. Notice I've finally figured out antialiasing. I cheated with the shadow though, I did the title in black and blurred it, then overlapped the clean text. This is so SIMPLE! I can't get over how great it looks to me. The image was one frame, and all one piece. The second frame was just the text in the second half, but the illusion of a third frame was given in the intro image. The subpages were again just one side image and one side text, but the navigation links were not included on them, just a link back to the main page. The navigation was also broken down and expanded into many more sections. This was also the first time I had an omake section, which I love dearly now and has been included ever since (save for the hiatus layout). I also hadn't read Angelic Layer at this point, but now I think it's rather cute. This is also the first time I used CLAMP in my layouts. The title and lyrics at the bottom came about because I made this layout while on an Aerosmith kick after buying their new CD, Just Push Play. No Cadillac Whack Back was a line from the title song, but I have no idea what it means. Ah... this stayed up FOREVER because I loved it so much. About ten months, I think, but I couldn't bear to change it. This is probably my all-time favorite layout.
Ugh. Thus ends my run of good layouts. This is SO BAD. But at least the text is antialiased. There are a lot of frames here... the top title is a frame, the side images constitute another frame, then the text was within an inline frame. The colors are bad, I think the orange was a little too overpowering for a background color. The images also suck. I DO kinda like the big one of Hamel... I like the extra red inclusion. But overall I think this layout blows. Too blocky... the images are too small and probably shouldn't have been used as navigation like that... and you can also tell I ran out of room for the last one, it's smaller than the rest :p It was only was up for a couple months because I knew it sucked. I wanted to do a layout for Hamel's birthday on the 13th of April, and since I had failed worse than this with a Hamel layout last year (thus you didn't see it :p) I decided I ought to acknoweledge it this year. Believe me, this is MUCH better than the one I didn't post. Ah... I guess the only good thing is that this is the first time I've used an inline frame on my collective. Oh happy day. Do me a favor and move on to the next one.
Hooray! Finally a layout with Futaba-chan! I can't believe I've overlooked her thus far. I really liked this layout. The navigation was a no brainer, as I had everything on one page. You just kept scrolling for sites, omake, links, contact info, and cliques. I really liked that system, and I think this layout complimented it well. Plus, it was summer, and I adored that image of Futaba-chan. Hmm... my only gripe is that I didn't have a very good scanner, so the image is a little grainy. A problem might have been loading time, but it loaded fast for me even with the big image at the top. Noone complained about it (noone ever says anything about my layouts, so I assume they all suck :p), so I guess it's OK loading. The colors might get a little annoying too, but at this point I like them. This was up all summer 2002, from... May or June to the middle of September. It was the last "real" layout on Tripod. I like it really well! It might be third or fourth in line after the Hikaru one up there. I think it works AND looks nice. The title Young Lust is yet another Aerosmith-inspired quote, the name of a compilation CD and I thought quite appropriate for the image ^_^
You know what REALLY sucks? This is a great layout in my opinion, and it was just a hiatus layout. I TOLD you I'm a fan of minimalism, and it doesn't get any more minimal than this. It's great, in that respect. In fact, I don't think there's anything wrong with this layout. It served its purpose of warning the viewer that there would be no updates for my sites until my domain opened, and then gave links to all my sites. A collective at its finest -_^ This isn't an "official" layout since it just marks the hiatus, but it was the last layout on Tripod. Glad to leave on a good note ^_^ Belldandy was... truly frightening in the beginning of Oh My Goddess! I absolutely had to use her in a layout. She really scares me in the first English volume >_<; Anyway... this was also the first layout I did using 1024 resolution, although I did it so that it would look good in 800 too. It's the last main collective I did for 800 resolution, since I added an intro page warning of the resolution on the domain. In short, good layout good GOOD layout in my opinion. Also the only screencap that I forgot to minimize my winamp for -_-;
Hooray! After all these years and all these layouts, I finally, FINALLY have some webspace to call my own! I am so incredibly pleased you wouldn't believe it. Eh, this is an OK layout, the only problem it had was that it was a hair too big for 1024, so a scrollbar appeared. I couldn't, for the life of me, figure out how to get a 0 margin at the top. Oh well, it's not really that big a deal. Yes, this is also the layout that marks my foray into 1024 territory. I didn't offer an alternate resolution because it's navigable in 800, the iframe and the links below it work quite well in that res. The scan was a much higher quality before I converted it to .gif of course, but it was scanned with a better scanner than the rest of the stuff... it would've looked like the other futaba-chan layout up there ^_^; This is also the first time I've repeated a character, but I thought it only appropriate that futaba-chan be the first to grace her domain namesake. I don't like the colors so much, but I think they work. The grey looks very nice, imho, and I absolutely LOVE what I did with the white shilouettes. I probably would've preferred to not do the thing with the boxes, but I couldn't figure out how to cut Futaba-chan like I wanted her and overlap the shilouette, so this works just as well. I used rollovers in the links again, which is a pain in the ass when you're programming by hand, lemme tell you -_-; They had status bar/alt tags too... but I really, REALLY didn't feel like doing every single one by the end. Hmm... Oh well. It's not one of my favorites, but it's still pretty successful in my opinion.
Dude. If you'd have told me I was capable of making something like this, I would have laughed in your face. This is NOT my style, but much more complex and pretty. And yet, at the same time, it's still function over form and easy to navigate (the links in the popup would all open up into that other window, not separate ones... I would've liked for them to open on the index/splash page, but I'm just glad they all open in the same window). As I have stated, yes, it was a popup, and I had made it before I realized that since I give warning at the splash page, I could've made it bigger. In other words, this layout is compatible with 800x600 ^_^; I got rid of the popup and had it load normally after a few days though, because it was even pissing ME off. Anyway, I wanted to do something drastically different than I normally do, so I started playing with layers... and the clone brush... and this came out! It also combined two things I am fanatical about, Chicago (the song "Razzle Dazzle") and Paradise Kiss (Yukari's the cover girl), so more points for that! I am so enormously pleased, words can not express. I think the Hikaru layout is still my favorite, but this one's definitely second now.
*sigh* While I like this layout, it's not as nice as the last one, which makes me angry. I kept telling myself I was gonna stick to the standard the last one set, and I had such grandiose plans for this layout in my head, but they all sucked when I started working on it, so there's this. But isn't that image lovely? It's Subaru Sumeragi from the seventh volume of Tokyo Babylon, and it's the only image where I saw it and immediately knew I had to make a layout of it. It's just so terribly interesting! I love it. Plus, since Hamel is the only one who's ever been a coverboy, I knew that the thirteenth layout had to be a boy, and it had to be somewhat dark and gothic since it was the number thirteen... though it was the beginning of summer when I put it up ^_^; I kept the same subpage format as the last version too, since I liked it and it worked and all. I'm not sure what I liked so much about the last layout, but I tried everything to duplicate it here... but it didn't work, so this one is just kinda blah. It has its merits... but for the most part it's boring, and kinda a bloggish layout. Though I don't think it would be quite as nice on a blog. Though admittedly it is better than most of the layouts that have graced my collective ^_^; Hehe, the title of the collective lends itself well to this layout too, since there's just a slight tint of red :p
For this layout, something a little different. I actually really like this one. If only the text box was a little wider... >_O;;; ARGH!!! SO ANGRY ABOUT THAT!!! But I do really like the layout. Another compatible with 800X600, iframes, and this time I also used a popup for most of my link buttons since I couldn't fit them two across in the narrow window (>_<;). The song fits Shigeta, and the colors fit everything else, I like the scribbles, the stars, everything! Well, except that text box. This was made because it came to me all at once, and I even sketched it out and everything :p I was gonna wait until I got back to school to put it up, but I had to kill the depressing Subaru one in favor of something summery. I also was a little hesitant about doing this layout because it was so profane, but in the end I just liked the song too much to not do it. Oh yes, features Kayoko Shigeta, the main character in a shoujo series called Happy Mania. She sleeps with men in a vein effort to find true love :p I love that series.
As much as I loved the last Shigeta layout, it had been up for almost a year, and I knew I had to take it down. I wanted to use this image of kuroneko from Trigun Maximum 1, but I knew I wasn't going to be able to do a complex, colorful layout with him, so you have this. Not exactly as I planned, as I forgot to leave a space for updates and the site window was too narrow to accomodate all my websites ^_^; Vash is on the subpage, and I'm tempted to leave him there. The fact that he has not graced the front page of my domain is due in large part to the fact that I cannot do him justice in a layout. The only reason I have for not leaving him on the subpages is that I'd rather have a Futaba-oriented layout for a permanent fixture, but Vash is tempting since he's one of my favorites. Only time will tell. Ahem... anyway, this isn't a great layout, it's way simple, but it's only meant to serve as a placeholder anyway, so whatever.
I don't use guys much in my designs for whatever reason. Then again, there are those who use only pretty bishounen in their layouts, so I suppose that balances out. This is Simon Belmont of Castlevania fame, a video game series made by Konami. Simon's the first videogame/nonmanga character who's appeared on my front page. He earned his place here because of the fact he slays skeletons and zombies with a whip, and that's badass. I actually really like this layout for as simple as it was to construct. There are some spacial issues (for some reason, when I uploaded it it was too small and Simon had red bands around him so I had to nudge it over from the side), but other than that, it's pretty good. The quote for the title's a particular favorite of mine, from Castlevania II. Mmm, I love that image of Simon. I also standardized the subpages here into the current Futaba-chan default setting... I hated going through all the omake galleries and changing everything >_<;
This one's not that great no matter how you look at it. I took down absolutely everything at my domain after a bit of a scare I had, and this was meant to be a placeholder layout while I began putting the sites back up. I was initially going to just strip something from every one of them and just re-upload them, but then it turned into wanting to revamp and update all of them, and I realized I didn't have the time, motivation, or content to update most of them with. Actually, I don't think anyone saw this layout because I forgot to link it from the front page. Oh well. The coverboy is Conan Edogawa, aka Shinichi Kudo. Detective Conan is one of my recent favorites, and I really wanted to use Conan in a layout. Too bad its such a lemon.
As I've said before, I'm a fan of white space, and I'm a fan of simplicity. I like this layout, though I think those buttons can stand to be shorter. I wish I could do an outline around them that was less than a pixel, but alas. Covergirl is a random doll from Mitzukazu Mihara's Doll. Here I've done what I swore I would never do, which is kill off sites. It breaks my heart to do so... TRP was almost six years old. But I knew I would never update most of them again. They live on... in my heart. Or something. Anyway. Kept the sites that I put the most work into, the ones I thought were the most unique, or the ones that had more personal content. Ironically, of the eight sites I kept, three of them are brand new. So really, I only kept five sites. Sad.
